Macedonia Photo Gallery Macedonia » ELCA National Youth Gathering 2012 The Bible Study ended around 12:45 p.m. The storms were overhead, but about 1:10 they said, "You have a 20 minute window to leave." We headed towards our hotel. Little did we know that this rain was nothing. We had a deluge that would come in a couple of hours! The rain sent us looking for a restaurant. We finally found "Huck Finn's," a restaurant in the French Quarter. Dennis White, check this out: Will had a Fisherman's Platter. After lunch the heavens opened. We were soaked up to our knees. If you look at the umbrellas you can see people in water halfway up to their knee. We got soaked! Dylan demonstrating how deep the water is! This motorcycle was parked on the side of Canal Street. Yep. It is half submerged in the water. Will stood by the cycle to show us! This manhole kept bobbing up and down, causing the water to spray us as we walked by. That night we sat on the floor of the Dome. Near the end of the program these large white "balls" (balloons?) came out, connected with white cloth, and were up in the air. A beautiful effect. In the dome. Better view of these "balloons". Although fuzzy, this photo is taken down on the floor of the dome right in front of the stage. After the Dome we headed to the Hyatt right by the Dome. This was a night for bull riding, sparring and lots of fun! After walking in 15" of water the day before, wet shoes were a problem. Here Ally is trying to dry out her tennis shoes with a hair dryer. This was our day to have beignets for breakfast. Cafe du Monde was jam packed, so we headed to Cafe' Beignet, located on Royal Street in the French Quarter. A great treat: Richard, Kay and Maddie Johnson joined us for breakfast! An order of beignets (3) were enjoyed by most. Several birds were flying in the restaurant. Here you see a bird setting on the chair, and Richard trying to feed a piece of beignet to the bird. Our group before saying goodbye to the Johnsons. L-R: Kay and Richard Johnson, Rachel, Dylan, Maddie Johnson, Maddie Braxton, Will, Sarah, Greg, Max, Christine, Ally and Joy Walking to the Convention Center we passed this "Gallery of Fine Art." A REAL cat sat in the window. Notice what the cat looks like in this photo ..... .....and what the cat looks like in THIS photo! A Canal Street trolley car. We never did get on one. :( ◄12345►
